Ride. Walk. Save Lives.
One Day can change your world. Today, 351 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer, and their day, and their world, will never be the same.
My story: In 2015, I finally received the diagnosis of osteosarcoma in my left femur after a frustrating 5 year battle with non-specific knee pain. Despite having seen numerous physios, an orthopaedic surgeon, undergoing an MRI & even becoming a physiotherapist myself, the symptoms were so non-specific that it just wasn't picked up until it had grown large enough for me to palpate through the skin. Thankfully, due to the slow growing nature of this disease, it had not metastasised... But, it definitely had to go. In March 2015, I had a 10cm femoral resection and a whopping great big prosthesis inserted. Eighteen months later, I am incredibly lucky to be almost fully recovered! This is due to the amazing work of a very talented orthopaedic surgeon and also the neverending support from my very supportive & loving family and incredible boyfriend Adam (and puppy Evie). I'm finally physically ready to participate in a challenge to raise (hopefully) a heap of money so that others can benefit from improved treatment standards for cancer in any form.
In August, I will give one day to show I stand with those battling cancer, joining thousands of others as we Ride 100km, or Walk 25km through the streets of Brisbane.
But I can’t do this alone – I need your support to help me achieve my fundraising goal and make a real difference to the lives of people diagnosed by cancer today and their families.
Please donate today to support my challenge in the Susan Suduk OneDay to Conquer Cancer, benefiting Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. Your donation will be immediately invested in life saving research and better treatment.
